Student Practice Experience

Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE)

St. John’s Department of Pharmacy gladly accepts IPPE students. During their experience they are expected to complete a variety of projects including a journal club presentation and a disease state review topic discussion. The student will work closely with the advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) students, pharmacy residents and pharmacists. If you are interested in coming to St. John’s, please go through the appropriate procedures at your university.

Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE)

St. John’s has current affiliation with the University of Findlay, Northeast Ohio Medical University, the University of Toledo and Ohio Northern University. We offer a variety of rotations including general hospital, internal medicine, pediatrics, critical care, infectious disease, emergency medicine, pharmacy administration and informatics. Interested students from other institutions are encouraged to check with your experiential office for further details. While here for rotations, the student will be responsible for rounding with the different multidisciplinary teams, providing patient counseling, conducting medication utilization reviews, completing a variety of presentations and more. The student will also have opportunities to shadow different medical professionals and participate in committee meetings.
